Stowaway

Pick any aircraft or satellite passing over your house right now, and go sit in its window seat.

Mount Rainier, snow-covered under a clear sky and seen from a ridge across the valley, with four aircraft labelled by callsign in the air above it, a satellite named alongside them, and Carbon Glacier and the Sourdough Mountains labelled on the ground.

The sky here is the real one outside — your location, your weather, this minute's light — with the aircraft and satellites that are genuinely overhead. Click one and the camera follows it; stow away and it takes a seat on board, over real terrain.

All of that is drawn in real time, which needs JavaScript and WebGL 2. Switching JavaScript on for this site should do it.

There is a window seat streaming on YouTube around the clock — a real flight over real terrain, with the cabin sound. It is ordinary video, so it plays here even though the sky above will not.
